Project Overview:

We were engaged to specify, supply and install a comprehensive suite of automatic swing door systems across multiple hospital theatre areas. This included 14 pairs of automatic swing doors serving anaesthetic rooms, theatre entrancesand designated one-way exit doors to support controlled movement throughout the department. Additional corridor doors were integrated using advanced motion detection for seamless, touch-free flow.

Working closely with our client, we delivered a solution that met strict clinical standards while improving day-to-day efficiency. This involved reinforcing existing wall structures, programming systems to operate safely in negative-pressure environments, and integrating cut-off switches that allow theatre staff to temporarily disable door operation during critical procedures – ensuring safety and maintaining the integrity of the surgical environment.

Features

  • Part of a wider theatre upgrade project spanning multiple clinical zones
  • Automatic swing doors with push pad & full access-control integration for secure and compliant entry
  • Motion-activated corridor doors for safe, touch-free circulation
  • Cut-off switches installed to allow staff to prevent door activation during operations
  • Specialist programming to maintain safe and stable performance under postive-pressure conditions
  • Reinforced wall and frame structures for long-term durability within heavy-duty clinical environments
  • Touchless operation and hygienic design supporting infection-control protocols
  • Smooth, quiet performance to reduce disruption in sensitive theatre areas

Installation & Coordination

This phase of the project required detailed preparation and close liaison with our client from the outset. With multiple trades working within a live clinical environment, coordination was essential. Ventilation units needed to be relocated ahead of installation, and all parties were required to work simultaneously within a strict two-week programme. As the project progressed, additional centre covers were introduced to conceal cable routes. Although this was a later design change, we incorporated it smoothly without impacting the delivery timeline.

Completion

We completed this phase of the project within the agreed two-week timeframe, with all documentation compiled and ready for handover to the end user. To further support the client, we carried out a courtesy visit six months after completion. This included a full health check of the systems and discussions with theatre staff to confirm everything was operating effectively within the live clinical setting.

Outcome

Strong preparation, structured communication and attention to detail enabled us to deliver a seamless installation under challenging conditions. The result was a reliable, safe and user-friendly system – and a satisfied client supported by confident end users.
